Clean, Comfortable Stays in South Portland, Maine

I went to a Mahali concert and all the hotels in the surrounding areas were completely booked up. So, we decided to search for some motels nearby and stumbled upon the Maine Motel. I was kind of weary and was thinking it was going to be something along the lines of "The Bates Motel". As we arrived and went into the main office, the lady who was there was super nice and helpful, we got our room key and went to go check it out. Upon opening the front door, everything looked super clean, just a bit outdated which is fine because I'm not fancy anyways. I then decided to do the "white glove" test thinking I was going to find dust everywhere and to my surprise I came up empty handed! Tops of doorways, tops of pictures, top of headboard... NOTHING! It was way cleaner than just about any hotel I have stayed at previously!

I am very impressed. A room with two double beds is plenty big, it has two tables, a bedside table, a chest of drawers, also a very long shelf to store stuff on. Also, I was surprised to see a mini fridge and a microwave, and everything is immaculate. The man and woman in the office, I don't know if they own it or if they just manage it, were extremely nice which is a nice experience since the last hotel I stayed at for only $10 less was only a quarter of the size of this room and the front desk staff were extremely rude. I would definitely recommend this to anybody, it is such a deal for your money, also it is very clean and quiet.

What a great place, reasonable prices, clean rooms, DirectTV, hot showers with great pressure. Located close to restaurants and convenience stores. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. The parking lot is well lit and has CCTV cameras to ensure safety. Well done!

The rooms need just a tad bit of paint, other than that this place is great for weekly rates... The staff is amazing and very understanding and help in any way they can.

It was okay for a last-minute booking. The owners are on premises so extra security (especially on that side of Portland) is always nice to have. They did allow for my daughter visiting to have her emotional support animal on visit on premises and in the room without any headache or extra cleaning charge, but kind of outdated bedding & room decor. Reminded me of something you would rent after prom, and the smell of older carpeting with pungent cleaning supplies was kind of sickening after 12 hours so I was ready to check out. Depending on what you get for a rate and how desperate you are at the last minute depends on whether I would choose this motel again. No bugs, no dirty sheets & the bathroom was very clean & disinfected. And I did feel clean after I got out of the shower, not gross like some other hotel chains FYI.
